Lopes lands on the podium in Mammoth
Champions come and go, but to be legendary you got to have heart and consistency. And consistency Brian Lopes (Intense/Maxxis/Pearl Izumi) has in spades.
After the four-stage inaugural Enduro race by USA Cycling at the National Championships held in Mammoth Lakes this past weekend, Lopes managed to defend his legendary status by finishing 8 second shy of the win to Mitch Ropelato and taking home the silver medal.
Lopes who competed in his 1st National Championships back in 1993, when Ropelato was still in diapers, holds 9 National Championship titles in 2 different disciplines. Enduro marked the 3rd discipline in Lopes’ arsenal…stay tuned to see what other two-wheeled adventures he decides to attack.
